Sept 30-Oct 3 4 Day Class All Levels
In this class you’ll use techniques I’ve developed make a group of unique charms in PMC, with some other materials mixed in (brass and copper, polymer clay, wood, mica, and beads).
The techniques we’ll use; tear away for texture, carving, (both polymer
clay and PMC) two sided texturing, sculpting, applique, working with PMC Paper,
and leatherhard construction will be specific enough to guide you in making the
charms pictured but general enough to encourage you to express your
individuality.
The charms are (from left to right): Carved leaf, re-oriented
dimensional charm, PMC Paper cut-out charms, bound twig charm, carved snail,
cylinder with torn and painted tear away paper and beads, hollow form beads,
heat patina-ed copper and natural edge charm, PMC Paper cut-out riveted over
mica, riveted frame charm, little cone with balled up wire inside, PMC Paper
name tag and a carved toggle clasp.
We’ll work in PMC for two and a half days and for the remainder we’ll work on
assembly and some metalwork (riveting, torch work, hammering, etc) and a little
polymer clay, as well. You can try to make all of these charms or lavish
time on your favorite designs.
Regarding the Chain: The charms are on a chain made of 16 gauge jump rings (approximately 90 of
them). I will either offer these to you as a kit for purchase before the class
or tell you where to buy them. The cost now for those jump rings is
around $60 and subject to change. I will also suggest some
less expensive alternatives.
The class cost is $495.
The Material Fee is $95.
The material fee includes copied images for tear away (to use in making texture), polymer clay plates to carve, polymer clay for projects, Teflon, metal leaf, mica, tools and supplies specific to the projects, liquid polymer, acrylic paints, sanding and finishing supplies, fine silver wire, Argentium wire, sterling wire and chain, brass and copper wire and sheet, use of various other tools, supplies, and consumables, Celie's demo materials (PMC, polymer clay, precious metals), studio rent, studio prep, administrative costs, and handouts.
Also
included are a glass work surface, glass palettes, and a desk lamp for your use
during class.
If you do not have a kiln I am happy to fire your PMC pieces for a year
from the date of the class. Box and send them to me, with a SASE, and
I'll fire and return them.
I suggest you budget 3-4 packages, at least, either PMC+ or PMC3 (28 or 25 gram packages or equivalent in larger packs). However, this class is highly individualized; some people will use less, some more.
A PMC work kit containing a rolling tool, pin tool, deck of cards, blade,
palette knife, slip container, Teflon sheet, and a water color brush will be
available to pre-order for $25. For those who don't have those supplies, they will
also be available to purchase individually during the class.
